You people don’t know how to have fun. This card is not ment to be broken. This entire set is supposed to be like a D&D campaign. You are to work hard and reap your rewards in the end. 95% of player in any game always look at how something can be used in a ranked format. When in reality, especially with card games, not everything is ment to be broken and game changing. This is going to be fun to play with in wild and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this set holds.

this card is too open to counterplay unfortunately, and 6/6 for 8 can’t stand without its chest cracking. i can hide it behind taunts, i can silence it, i can shapeshift it, or(and this may be the worst thing you can do to a fox player) you can use an effect to give your opponent the chest, and break it yourself. on the other hand though, it DOES either a) eat a minion destruction spell(8 health is alot) or it is taking 8 damage that could probably be better served elsewhere. either benefits the person who has the chest.

When they break the chest though, they get a huge tempo swing.

    November 7, 2017 at 11:20 pm

Without the contents of the chest this card is an 8 mana 6/6, and with the contents the game is now late game in which the only competition is control vs control. When you are using a deck full of control cards do you (A) want a hand full of a particular control card or (B) to draw 3 more control cards and use them against the opponents control for free? Well that’s what you’re going to get half of the time. As for the other 50%, you may challenge the opponent with some heavy bodies, although again is really just a possibility.

You really can’t sell this as more than a novelty card.

Like if you are not gonna give him the pirate label, then do some different art, but if you look at the art from the card, it’s definitely a pirate.

    Turn 7: 2 Radiant Elementals
Turn 8: Marin into Potion of Madness into double divine spirit inner fire and deal 32 damage to your opponent

    Good card, I like it

      Nice 7 card combo

  11. Jonnychill1331
    November 4, 2017 at 7:01 am

Otk deck created. Turn 8 Marin turn 9 potion of madness the chest divine spirit, divine spirit, inner fire attack for 32 damage. If there are taunts in play you do the combo on turn ten instead and also cast a mass dispel (you could still do the combo with mass dispell on nine if you play a radiant elemental). Also you could potentially do 64 damage if you get a third divine spirit from shadow visions. Only counter to this otk is skulking geist or your oponent killing the chest themselves giving you a treasure

    • Jonnychill1331
      November 4, 2017 at 7:02 am

Or your oponent could buff the chest out of potion of madness range

I was just thinking the same thing, if this legendary turns out to be this expansion Elise’s, treachery might actually be run and if they don’t play this card, u can still trech doomsayer

        November 6, 2017 at 4:05 am

Or you can treachery+licenced apothecary+Brann+LEEEROOOY JEEEENJIIIIINS+(dragon that spawns a 1 cost minion on your opponent’s board…) (of course under thaurissan+drakkari)

        November 4, 2017 at 6:12 am

8 mana + 2 mana + 2 mana + 1 mana= 13, to bad still, u could potion Inner fire or if u have a radiant elemental u could pull off some crazy stuff, the problem is when ur turn ends ur opponent has an 8/8 or better

    • Moloch
      November 6, 2017 at 4:51 am

Why would that be good? 😀
Because your enemy gets the freakin’ card from the chest when he kills the 8/8?
      Nice tactics.

  14. Namenotactuallyequired
    November 3, 2017 at 7:01 pm

At 10 mana you can play this dude with Crazed Alchemist to swap the attack and health of the chest, instantly killing it.
For a two card combo at 10 mana you get a 6/6 and a 2/2 with a busted 3 mana spell. Sounds kinda fun to me.

    • Haha
      November 4, 2017 at 3:22 am

Yep i also think about that combo xd but its only possible if you will survive next turn.

I see the meme potential on this. I think 6/6 body is little weak to be played without taunt tho. I am already struggling to find a turn to drop lich king that should be twice as strong as this.

  19. Debhole4PREZ
    November 3, 2017 at 3:20 pm

At best you highroll wondrous wand in a Big Priest Deck, won’t be played in any deck that cares about your opponents health. This card probably won’t be played due to how hard it is to actually kill the box, as a 6/6 body for 8 is low tempo.

  20. lanakias
    November 3, 2017 at 2:20 pm

Blizzard continue to create o shitty-weak cards..Always i have in my mind, legendary cards must be good. But in the previous expansion and with this now i see only shitty legendary cards and bad cards in general.
Look this card very carefully. It cost 8 mana and have 6/6 stats. You spend 8 mana to drop a 6/6 body and do nothing. No battlecry no taunt, nothing. On your turn you do nothing..The card summon a 0/8 box and if you kill it you have a 3 mana cost card in your hand..
For the first look to make all this happen you must play 11 mana and kill a 0/8 box.Any aggro deck and midrange too,is capable to kill you 100 times before you play this card.
And ok lets say all this happen you are somehow alive and you have one of these 4 cards in your hand..These cards AGAIN dont help you at the begging. No board clear like kazakus potions, like lich king spells ect. Yes it is a value cards but one OP hearthstone deck need battlecries and any kind of dmg instantly.
“Lich king” cost 8 mana have 8/8 stats IT IS A TAUNT and give you some good cards that can change the game. But the funny is,right now EVEN the “Lich King” is not inside for the most of hearthstone decks..Even the Lich king is weak because he cost 8 mana and give you radom cards..And say me blizzard this new legendary card it is ok?
Only in troll decks can put this card..Only very control games can you beat with this card if you are lucky.

Legendary minions aren’t necessarily supposed to be good, they’re supposed to be interesting strong at best and interesting at worst. There have been PLENTY of bad Legendaries before, so I don’t know how you could have possibly come to that idea in the first place.

Also, grammar is important. Use it next time.

      • Lanakias
        November 4, 2017 at 6:27 am

On my comment i speak for my thoughts and not for yours.Sorry i cant write what you want. And beyond that. I say 100 things about this card and your answer is ” how bad is my grammar?”. Sorry but that is my grammar. If you dont understand me,ignore my comment. So simply. But i see you have serious problem with people who dont speak good english like you and that is racist. So i suggest to fix your problems first to become more human because racist people is not for me.

        • Jaych
          November 5, 2017 at 12:29 pm

Okay, you are horribly off the mark right now.

          A) That’s not what racism means. Racism is hating someone for their ethnicity. I’m simply giving you a hard time for not using proper grammar. There’s a pretty distinct difference. I don’t even have any way of knowing what or who you are, so your statement doesn’t even make any sense.

          B) I never said that the card was good. I simply stated the ACTUAL FACT that Legendary minions aren’t required to be good. They are, however, “required” (MASSIVE air quotes there) to be interesting. Someone from Team Five actually mentioned this before, and though I don’t remember when this was, I do remember it happening. So whatever “idea” you have about Legendary minions is going against the idea of the designers, who, in case you didn’t know, have more of a say in how the game is made than you do. Just throwing that out there.

    • DJGlassZ
      November 3, 2017 at 3:38 pm

Okay, so by going with what you said in the first paragraph, all legendaries ( The Lich King ) is not good. They are called Legendaries for a reason. Legendaries are one of a kind cards that has a much better effect in general. Lets say Aya Blackpaw, no card in the game has the ability to create 2 Jade Golems with one card. ( correct me if i’m wrong) thus its considered a legendary as it has a much greater effect than most other Jade creating cards.

True Marin The Fox is a 8 mana 6/6. The thing is, why would you play it if you are losing? If you actually play Hearthstone, you would know that players would only play this card if they have the damage to destroy it. From your perspective, aggro and midrange can rush you down? This card is never going to be in a aggro or midrange deck as he is too expensive. But a control deck, one with board clears and hard removals, he could be a option.

His treasure cards are also unique, tell me why Elise The Starseeker is played in control decks? As she can change your deck to Legendaries, this Golden Kobold is a mini version of Elise. Changing your hand into legendaries might not affect the battlefield but his a Taunt on his own. Tolin’s Goblet a pretty iffy card, so no point in discussing its use in game ( anyone wanna tell me how this card is useful ) ? Wondrous Wand is also a great card on its own, there’s a reason why Emperor Thaurissan is played… cost reduction is impactful as you can make tempo plays with it. Zarog’s Crown is pretty much a cheaper and better Free From Amber.

The thing why he would maybe not see play as the meta is pretty much all aggro, so no one would put him into their deck. And The Lich King is not played in all as like i said the meta is aggro now and people play tech cards like The Black Knight and Big Game Hunter.

I can see the goblet doing some otk stuff where if ur lucky u can get like eviserates and just ruin your opponents day. I can’t think of anything right now, but u can see it doing some crazy otk

      • Lanakias
        November 4, 2017 at 6:31 am

Elise cost 5 mana and have 5/5 stats. For stats only the card is OP. But as you say too, fox cant put it in any deck because the meta is more aggro. And for that i say this card is bad. Because the things on hearthstone is different. If in the future aggro decks become more weak, then some cards become more useful.

        • DJGlassZ
          November 4, 2017 at 8:29 am

Yup, and uh you are talking about Elise Trailblazer? As Elise Starseeker is a 4 mana and is a 3/5 body.

          • Grighten
            November 7, 2017 at 7:16 am

Did you seriously say the Lich King is not a good legendary but black Paw is if so that is hysterical.

          • DJGlassZ
            November 7, 2017 at 1:11 pm

I did not say it was a bad legendary… if you read what I was replying to, the user said that blizzard is basically creating bad legendaries. Then I replied to him based on his perspective. I used Aya Blackpaw as an example… if you want I can give you more… Reno Jackson, no card in the game has an effect like him… Brann Bronzebeard, no card in the game also has an effect like him… I’m just using Aya Blackpaw as an example as its pretty easy to understand as there are only a handful number of cards that create Jade Golems… and like I said, the meta is pretty much aggro/midrange (murloc pally, tempo rogue, highlander priest), sure Lich King is good but in the meta today, it does not fit in most decks.

Hope that clears whatever thoughts you have… I can’t reply on your post so I will reply on mine :p

          November 16, 2017 at 3:02 pm

Pros predict this set will terminate aggro dekcs… blizzard seems to really try to do so. The last set really made the meta a lot more control based. With barely if not no aggro cards.

    • Hugo Herschend
      November 4, 2017 at 6:18 am

Everyone is getting it, I don’t think they would give us a top tier card, the card looks fun and will probably be a staple in otk gimmick decks with the goblet or the wand. I see myself running it in a few decks when I have the room, it could probably do a lot of work in a priest deck if u put 1 or 2 radiant elementals the turn before, u can potion it and buff it up a ton and have a 32/32 charger

    • MadFlamingo
      November 6, 2017 at 7:51 pm

Nice perspective man, but I think this card is suited to decks that have minions out on turn 7 to crush that box turn 8, but then again the value is better suited to decks that need that extra “something out of nothing” ish. Thats just how i see it. Its not meant for agro, I think tempo decks can find a good use for this if they can crush it at turn 8 right of the bat

  21. Peter
    November 3, 2017 at 12:52 pm

Seems like you wouldn’t play this unless you had the ability break the chest on the same turn. The wand and the crown seem very strong, especially the wand.

    • Vorodirr

It goes to the players that doesn’t control the chest

  23. Jaych
    November 3, 2017 at 12:28 pm

I love the flavor, but I’m a little iffy on the viability. On one hand, each of the 4 loot is incredibly powerful, though the weakest is definitely the Goblet. I feel like this is only going to see play in decks that can reliably kill it quickly, through things like Execute or Shadow Word: Pain. Otherwise, it becomes a perfect candidate to be targeted by Bonemare, and the card suddenly doesn’t seem so good anymore.

3 Stars from me. Maybe it’ll be good, maybe not. We’ll just have to wait until Monday.

  24. MockRock
    November 3, 2017 at 11:44 am

The fact that this card already has ratings is an absolute joke, we literally have no idea what it does. When people mock the Hearthstone community for making horrible predictions, this is exactly the mentality that comes into play.

      November 3, 2017 at 1:02 pm

i commented the same thing earlier. it has happened before like with death knights not knowing the hero power but still rating it, or quest rewards without knowing the quest itself. Just stupid.

The loot has to be reeeeally good for an 8 mana 6/6.

    • D00mnoodle
      November 3, 2017 at 10:52 am

I agree, The loot itself is also very vulnerable unless combo’ed to kill it on turn 9-10. With all the spellbreakers in the current meta and bonemares to turn it into a really strong taunt body.
