Right, we also wanted it to not be good in the existing quest mage deck since it runs very few elementals. If people want to run it in quest mage then they need to add a few elementals and change up the deck. – Source

Shifting Scroll and the Servants of Kalimos need to be reviewed and might be switched for board clears or something like Harrison Jones. But I totally like the idea of a elemental quest mage without an exodia combo, but with two “charging” giants… 😉
I like this card in quest. I already use Shimmering tempest so a good fit without changing anything. would probably look to add a few more elementals though. any suggestions?
Leyline Manipulator is wonderful with this card, since most Mages run Primordial Glpyh and Cabalist’s Tome.
Also the new Arcane Artificer is a great fit. That extra armor really helps mage hold down the defense.
Do those spell stones upgrade if you dont have them i hand ?

Dont forget, Shimmering Tempest and Steam Surger are both elementals… I could see elemental quest mage being a thing…. Depending on what else we get this xpac

Interesting card but, heck man why get rid of the gnarly wings in the artwork for the final upgrade??
“Gnarly” Yea I agree they look pretty cool, imagine what this card would be like golden with the wings aswell, what a shame 🙁
I like the design here. Makes a potential for a 2-Mana Cabalist’s Tome, but makes you play cards you don’t always play in the traditional Mage lists. I’m a fan, but I don’t think it’s that incredible.

it serves 2 purposes
first, cabalist thome is going wild in 3 months
second, jaina deathknight is a dead card as of now and they are trying to give people reasons to use the lest used deathknight hero
Jaina is off-meta, but not a dead card. I climbed to legend this month and last with jaina grinder mage

Great! Exactly what mage needed! More random bullshit spell generation!!!!! Can’t wait to die to the fifth fireball with the fourth polymorph taking out my taunt so their fourthwater elemental created by a third copy of molten reflection they don’t even run in the deck can kill me when they would’ve died two turns earlier if they hadn’t had four ice blocks and used the meteor that they don’t even hard-run…..

Nice rant! A bit of RNG involved there, doesn’t always happen, but funny comment. I personally liked the pre-rng hearthstone where you only have cards you started with. I wish discover became a copy of a card in your deck exclusively. Then it would be consistent but not as versatile. Make the game much more reasonable.

Elemental mage is currently good on “paper”. When you actually play the game, your elementals fall short vs jade druid, gets aoe’ed vs priest and simply remains slow vs rogue-shaman. I dont see a world where 2mana-do-nothing-on-board-spell helps you with any of these matchups.

But elemental mage keeps getting buffed with the elemental that gains you armor, the 4/4 that costs 0 if you cast a big spell (pretty easy for mage with firelands or flamestrike), and more are likely coming in the expansion
Clearly the best spellstone so far, but also the most difficult to upgrade. It encourages elemental mage which is not that much played. Great design.
Hmmmm “Play 2 Elementals” … that means Water Ellies summoned by Frost Lich Jaina’s hero power won’t count, doesn’t it?
Exactly! They are in fact “summoned” and not “played” from hand.
No the word “play” means that you have to use the elementals from hand. The priest quest and shaman quest say “summoned” which is why nzoth, finja, and primalfin totem count towards the quests count. The warrior quest specifically says “play” which is why nzoth doesn’t work when reviving taunts and chain gang doesn’t get 2 activations. So, sadly, it’s not as good as we would like it to be.

it could be also activated by 1/2 elementals which cost 1 mana i would call it better version of cabalist tome.
It’s obviously great in elemental mage. Quest mage COULD use this but i’m not sure because u need elementals too support it. But hey elemental mage is my favorite mage deck so i’m hyped!
Actually will an upgraded version count as a spell that starts in your deck? That could make it viable if they just want to run like two fire flies or something

That deck would never work.
1. U need some elementals
2. U need all other minions like Arcanologist, Archmage antonidas, Sorcerer’s apprentice etc.
3. U need ALOT of spells, u need freeze, discoveries, quest, burn and secrets.
How are u gonna fit all of this into 30 cards?
maybe with a different win condition, the giant version need just 3 cards to work.. i dunno i’m just thinking.
Wow, mr.Smartypants. You need Antonidas and Sorcs? Where did you get that idea? Just cause exodia mage is run with the quest most of the time that doesnt mean you NEED them in the deck. Just mind you Alex + Giants was also viable with the quest. I for one expect some crative deck building and this card is legit strong with AND without the quest.

1 . Exodia Quest (Add 2 This Spell In Deck ) Dont needed upgrade Only Use 1 Spell for 2 Quest completing
2 . Highlander Elemental Mage ( Upgrade And Use More Spell )
3 . Secret Mage ( Use For Drop Secret more )
1. replacement for cabalist tome? because that seems to be the weakest link now, no risk of cluttering your hand with 3 high cost useless/slow cards
Using this for one spell sucks, we already have Primordial glyph that let’s u CHOOSE spell and discount it. Plus u can get useless spells like Glacial mysteries.
