Did someone say Ixlid and The Darkness combo?

Does this even work? Summoning a minion doesn’t trigger its battlecry.

        December 5, 2017 at 8:37 am

Yes, you just have to play it to trigger it’s Battlecry ONCE and you’ll get 2 of them after the 3 Candles are cast. Although SUMMONING won’t summon a copy at all, same thing with recruiting.

I hate this kind of card design.Crazy potential if opponent is unlucky enough to not have removal but absolute trash if the opponent actually has a removal.

perhaps it finds a home in token druid. although casting living mana on five is usually better, this enables rebuilding a board with just very few cards in hand. Also some potential with hadronox if you can hide this behind two tar creepers or something. it’s certainly not a competitive card, but i can see this being fun to play.

ye you can co,bo giants starting from stone throu arcane ending at sea welll to be fair droping that card with 2 giants is enough if you can bounce him back to hand after would be busted just for another GIANT round

Honestly this can be pretty disgusting in Jade Druid.
Your opponent has to kill this card to make sure you can’t get value from it. Imagine dropping Aya on turn 6. You get 2 Aya’s and 2 Jades when summoned, then when Aya dies, you get an additional 2 Jade golems.

    • CD001
      November 30, 2017 at 8:13 am

No – you’d get 2 Ayas and one Golem, with the potential to summon two more Golems when the Ayas are killed, Battlecries are only triggered when you play a card from your hand – still pretty damned good value if the Fungal Lord survives a turn… but it won’t. Fandral rarely survives a turn and he’s got more health and can be played earlier.

The Jades all rotate out of Standard in about March as well.

      • Leuz
        November 30, 2017 at 11:56 am

Whoops, i did not think about the summoning of the golems!
But having 2 Aya’s with a potential of getting 3 golems is a crazy tempo play.

It won’t be too difficult to protect him from other minions if you play something like Druid of the swarm to combo with him. Since you can get two taunts when you play it!
I imagine you need to bait out the opponent’s removal cards, before you play him.
Maybe we just need to ramp fast to ensure some value.
        I

You wouldn’t get two jade golems on playing her. The texts says “when you play a minion” playing a minion only happens when a minion is put on to the board from your hand. It does not work on minions summoned from other sources such as spells, battle cry, recruit, etc… But still have two Aya is really good.

Might stick it in a Wild deck with Aviana, Kun and some giant Legendaries maybe… 2x Tyrantus? 2x Deathwing, Dragonlord? 2x Malygos (for a silly spell-based OTK)?

In Standard I guess you could drop this and Stranglethorn Tiger in the same turn (as it’s 1 cheaper than Menagerie Warden) – but that’s actually worse than dropping the Tiger on 5 and the Warden on 6. Unless it gets some support I suspect it’ll be a largely unplayable “win-more” card.

Before Brann Bronzebeard was rotated out it was in every druid deck but egg druid (no battlecry).
I can remember situations when he sat in my hand unplayable.
Ixlid costs 1 more. And it’ll be in every Druid deck.

      • KaihatsuJai
        November 30, 2017 at 6:43 am

Whoops typo. Costs 2 more. And it’ll be in every druid deck!

        • CD001
          November 30, 2017 at 8:08 am

Battlecries are only triggered when you play a card from your hand – so this won’t trigger the battlecry on the card it summons – so no, it doesn’t really compare with Brann Bronzebeard.

This is better for Deathrattles than Battlecries – same as Barnes.

          • KaihatsuJai
            November 30, 2017 at 1:34 pm

Hence why I said Brann for minions. It doubles the minion, not the battlecry.
The effect is more powerful, and you’re right it would work well in the beast copy decks.
Too bad the KoFT deathrattles were disappointing, so not too many worth playing.

Could be very strong, but not in the current druid decks everyone is sick and tired of facing (aka jade druid).
    Great design !

    November 30, 2017 at 5:20 am

5 stars. It’s Brann Bronzebeard for minions in a class that’s got ramp.
    Carnivorous cube this bad boy.

cabal shadow priest should be way better since i believe it will deliver two 4/5 bodies + one 2/4 for total cost of 6 mana

      • Superbaas
        November 30, 2017 at 5:00 am

The game checks the “play” trigger when you move Cabal from your hand to the field and target. Since you do not control. Ixlid at this time, he will not trigger and will not copy Cabal.

        • Rexus7
          November 30, 2017 at 5:33 am

Correct. Depends if you want to take it permanently or use temporarily and smash against something that they summoned. Likely the taunt they put up to protect it haha.

        • Whatever
          December 1, 2017 at 4:55 am

          I don’t think so.
When u steal that 5-5 demon with cabal, you take 5 damage. When you steal crypt lord with cabal, it gets 1 extra health. So it means first battlecry lands and then body lands.
You will get the second vabal shadowpriest.

          • Whatever
            December 1, 2017 at 4:57 am

Ops my bad. I thought it says summon.
You won’t get the second cabal.

Priest use that freaking potion cost ONE and summon whatever he wants… Rage for days! I will never use this card. Hahahahah

  12. af
    November 29, 2017 at 11:49 pm

So its basically a faceless manipulator where the effect comes after you play the minion, it leaves a 2/4 body and continues to produce the manipulator effect if not removed.

Its not OP by any means, but sounds solid. The question is what deck it fits?

    • af
      November 29, 2017 at 11:50 pm

and ofc, you cant copy enemy minions…

      • Roberto
        November 30, 2017 at 1:58 am

Which leaves us with the fact that it is like faceless manipulator the same way dommsayer is…..

    November 29, 2017 at 11:18 pm

Ok friends we drop this on turn 10 then use our 3 man prince to make a copy of this — which it summons twice! Then with our remaining 2 mana we play doomsayers which is copied 3 times for 4 total doomsayers! Then you concede and uninstall when your combo deck won’t work

    • McNugg2710
      November 29, 2017 at 11:26 pm

the prince doesnt copy, it ADDS a copy to ur hand

      • Illuminavi10
        November 29, 2017 at 11:41 pm

No, there is defenitely written: summon a copy of it

        • McNugg2710
          November 29, 2017 at 11:45 pm

“our 3 man prince to make a copy of this” That 3 mana prince of which you speak of does NOT summon a copy of the fungal lord, so there is no way you can get 4 doomsayers in a single turn *sigh*

          • tester
            November 29, 2017 at 11:53 pm

What are you talking about? If the prince becomes this, then this copies the now-a-fungal-lord prince and you have three of these. Two statted 2/4 and two 3/3. *sigh*
Anything you then play gets copied three times = 4 of the minion.*sigh*

Quest Druid? I know people don’t play that anymore but you can get a lot of big guys for 0 mana with Barnabus and duplicate them with this card

    • Mr Bump
      November 29, 2017 at 11:26 pm

Haha that would be funny, but Quest Druid ain’t happening without a shit ton of help (or some major nerfs to other druid deck staples) – this is just a win more card in that situation.

To all the WoW lore experts who play Hearthstone:

Does Team 5 just make these cards up? Or are most of the legendaries in these sets actually from WoW? Because I just have to say, the card art and flavor of this set so far has been outstanding.

    • Knightofbread
      November 29, 2017 at 11:16 pm

There is no named NPC known as Ixlid. It’s original to Hearthstone, as are most of the Legendaries in the set.

    • Muzek
      November 30, 2017 at 5:48 am

Plenty of legendaries are made up now, that’s why the game is no longer hearthstone: heroes of warcraft. However most of them are still based on wow characterssuch as temporus, the new priest legendary. And aluneth, the mage weapon

  16. Formhandle
    November 29, 2017 at 9:58 pm

A lot of ppl saying it will be good to Big Ramp Druid decks, but, they don’t realize, this card would be removed by the opponent next turn.

I think, this would be better for Aggro Token decks instead, so you can summon Fledglings and Enchanted ravens on the same turn.

    Ghave? Is that you!?

  18. Helioshadow
    November 29, 2017 at 8:49 pm

Hmm… Interesting legendary. Elemental tag tacked on to it as well. Elemental Druid? Eeeeeh…

How to abuse? Legendary Druid weapon gives you a free double-turn, allowing you to drop this, refresh, Kun, refresh, and Y’Shaarj or another big dude. You could sub Legendary weapon for Aviana. Two 7/7’s, two Y’Shaarj’s, and two (probably) big dragons and/or The Lich King (plus Ixlid plus maybe Aviana). Pretty good. Regardless, this IS the absolute dream, buuuuut… It’s still a fun dream 😀

Normally? Ah, idk about this card. I guess you could double up on Sludge Belchers in wild to maybe have him survive a turn, then going ham the next with huge dudes. Usually I reckon he’s a 2 or 3. But in the extreme circumstances he’s a six out of five, no doubt.

  19. MarmotMurloc
    November 29, 2017 at 8:35 pm

Now this is an awesome a possibly very broken card mechanic with big and or malygos druid. The question is, how do you get it to survive one turn?
Warlock can shadowbolt,(and much, much more)
Priest can potion of madness (or just use some shadow words on it)
There’s no telling how many ways mage can kill this.
Rogue can eviscerate ( amongst other ways)
Druid can wrath+hero power or swipe
Shaman can blast or hex it
Warrior can execute it or just smack it with a big weapon
Paladin may have the most difficulty killing it with spells… but Paladin has great minions to smash into it
    Hunter can kill command it.
And that’s just a couple, so dont hate if I missed your favorite killing method for a class!
Survivability will be rough, but there will be many cool combos if it lives!

    • Kenchilada
      November 29, 2017 at 8:43 pm

Paladin actually has an out with true silver champion. But yeah, this card is very wonky. I don’t really see why you’d ever run this over carnivorous cube.

      • November 29, 2017 at 9:23 pm

Why not run this with carnivorous cube? Play this. Cube eats it, get an extra cube. First cube dies, get two of these and GO BANANAS.

Seriously though, druid doesn’t play minions anymore. Druid summons them. Also too much neg. Synergy with choose one cards.

        • BellaBoo
          December 5, 2017 at 10:34 am

Unfortunately, it won’t summon an extra cube. Ixlid reads “AFTER you play a minion”, meaning battlecries will trigger before its ability. You will still get two ixlid’s back, and it’s still a pretty good synergy though

    • MorbidArtist
      November 29, 2017 at 8:46 pm

You re probably better off trying to comb it on the same turn. You can play this, cash in the Druid legendary weapon to get 10 mana then go crazy with w/e you want + Kuun maybe?

      • Mr Bump
        November 29, 2017 at 8:48 pm

Yeah that’s about the only time this guy will work. Which is a bit of a stretch, so probably is dumpster.

  20. Maciej
    November 29, 2017 at 8:24 pm

Its not soo bad like it look like. Druid can ramp much faster and this card can have some value. If u ramp it can be 2/4 two turns earlier thats is ok.

Blizzard really pushing the elemental synergy, dont thnik the card is too good tho, weak statline, no sudden impact for on curve and later one still difficult cause of 5 mana imo.

    • Jaych
      November 29, 2017 at 8:47 pm

Really? I must’ve missed the last time that Blizzard decided to try and make Elemental Druid a thing.

      • Immolate
        November 29, 2017 at 9:49 pm

Not sure if you read his post correctly, he just is saying that they are pushing Elemental synergy as a whole. Several of the new class cards and some pretty good neutrals have the Elemental tag. I’m glad that they are going this, as chaining Elementals requires a good amount of planning and trying to figure out what your opponent is going to do. Cheers!
