Card Text

Spend all your Mana. Deal that much damage to a minion.

Flavor Text

WARNING: This flame is not to be used unless you are a licensed acolyte of the Old Gods.

Forbidden Flame Additional Information

  • Sorcerer's Apprentice will not grant you an extra mana. Forbidden Flame spends what’s left of your mana. Apprentice will, however, reduce the cost of the card if it was increased by something like Loatheb. [Source]
  • You can only have 10-mana so the maximum mana you can spend is 10. [Source]
  • You can cast Forbidden Flame even if you have no Mana. This means if you have Malygos on board you can do 5-damage (from Spell Damage) for 0-mana. [Source]

This card is “not bad”. It’s not mana efficient compared to say frost bolt or fireball but it’s flexible. If it could target hero too it would be much better as it would be used in freez mage.

It doesn’t matter if this fits into your curve. It doesn’t guarantee that it kills a minion, or affects the board in any way. I could see this card sitting in your hand a lot.

I can actually see the opposite for this card. Why frostbolt something that only has 2 health? Why fireball something that only has 4-5 health? This card is flexible and efficient removal. Sure it’s not as good as the other mage removal damage wise, but it makes up for all of that by being very flexible removal.

I do feel like it will compete with say…Forbidden Torch in some decks.

Maybe it will be played instead of arcane intelect. It’s Value is not very good, but it works nice with flamewalker, manawyrm and archmage and perfectly complement your turn to get your mana burned.

Actually I think you can use it with Flamewaker pretty damn good because its a 1st mage’s 0 mana spell.
So you can for example target your Flamewaker for 0 dmg for 0 mana to make him deal 2 additional points of damage.

Seems strong at face value, since you can tailor it to fit your manna curve. Looking at other good damage spells, though, the damage to mana ratio is poor. Fireball = 1.5, dark bomb = 1.5, frost bolt = 1.5, etc. Spells that do one damage per mana are not played currently. I think it will be played initially, then fall out of favor.

This card is actually really powerful. The fact that if fits into any part of your curve, so you can use it on 1 on 2 and so forth. Its also really good even if you only need to do 3 damage to something on turn 6 you could play flamewaker first then use this card and get the trigger.

This card will be almost an auto include in most Standard Mage lists in my opinion.

So this card is actually good, but only against control meta! Against aggro meta this card is good only on turn 1-2 maybe 3..
You can’t play it efficient with flamewaker as you want to play alot of spells with him and deal reasonable dmg with the spell. So it can kill Dr. 7 turn 7. Oh.. it might kill cathun turn 10. Last thing.. you might utilize it for mana efficientcy. But it’s cinda broken card as it targets only minions. If It would dmg face then it could turn out to be a great card for a freeze mage (if he steal be playable after the expention)

If it could do face damage then it would replace pyroblast.

No it wouldn’t. Pyroblast can have its cost reduced and works very well with Naga Sea Witch (very underrated card but I’ve had some downright insane games thanks to it, you just need the right deck for it to work right)

how is this only good against control meta? all you do before you cast it for mid game/late game agro response is you use mana first and its still a perfectly good card

7 mana to kill Dr. Boom or 10 mana to kill c’thun is a terribly inefficient play, when BGH will do it for 3

Everybody will run 2 bgh from now on, one for c thun and one for whatever else

Blizzard is probably going to nerf bgh. Also, in the meta right now, bgh isn’t in a good chunk of the decks, there are better options.
