Duskbat Card Review

I feel like it’s the strongest one of the three Warlock card revealed at once, mainly because it’s not a Control card – it fits in Zoo. And Zoo has more ways to activate it.

While you can’t reliably get it out on Turn 3 (can you do it at all without Coin?), it looks like a very solid 4-drop or 5-drop if you can combo it. Zoo decks run different ways to proc it – Kobold Librarian, Flame Imp, Vulgar Homunculus. You can even Life Tap + play this on Turn 5 if you need.

3 mana 2/4 with 2x 1/1 is really good in a deck like Zoo. It works really well with Knife Juggler, Dire Wolf Alpha and such.

The worst thing about this card is that it’s a 3-drop you really don’t want to play on Turn 3. If you really have no other play, you can still drop it as a 2/4, but that’s just bad. However, it shouldn’t be that hard to combo past Turn 4.

It’s not spectacular or anything, but Zoo is losing lots of cards next expansion (Malchezaar's Imp, Bloodfury Potion, Darkshire Councilman, Crystalweaver) and it will be looking to fill those gaps with new cards, so I think that it might see play.

Card rating: 6/10

This is pretty similar to Imp Gang Boss, but at least for this, it will always spawn two tokens when the condition is meet. On turn four, playing Kobold Librarian into this can be rather strong, putting 6/7 worth of stats on the board in four bodies and drawing a card.

A Witchwood Zoo Warlock deck would play this and try to find ways to fill in the other gaps caused by the rotation that will be occurring. The deck should be decent enough to climb with as long as there is another Zoo card about as powerful as Darkshire Councilman is printed.

*Rubs eyes*… Imp gang boss… is that you?
Shoot. It’s a bat, just a bat. But at least it comes with bonus bats.
I really like this card for some kind of zoology deck, getting three creatures for three mana with the low price of a self inflicted wound at some point seems pretty good!
7.5/10 in my opinion, might be a little hard to actually play turn 3

I don’t get it … isn’t there a 4 mana neutral 2/4 that reliably casts 2 1/1s? That card wasn’t in Zoolock lists, so why should this? Or am I missing something?

Yes, but that 1 mana difference is huge, especially in zoolock. think of this like a slightly less good imp gang boss (as it isn’t as good against board clears). Not saying it’s overpowered or anything, but certainly an option to fill in the board

But … besides the new selfharming witch … you need to pay the same amount of mana but need 2 cards (e.g. Imp) or even more (hero power) for the bat?

3 mana 4/6 in total… Or 3 mana 5/7 with Keleseth. Of course you can’t play it until turn 4 to get maximum value, but it’s good value against aggro and kind of eh against control, but against midrange this is fine.

You can’t say it that way. Theres a 4 mana Card out doing the same but ist weaker the chillwind imo. but it’s 4/6 as well.

In most cases this would be a 5 mana 4/6 draw a card. Strong at later turns with board clears such has hellfire.

these add even more synergy to the warlock spellstone, kobold libarian, and the small taunt demon.

Good Zoolock card for board (re)fill. Needs Blood Witch, Flame Imp, Kobold Librarian or Vulgar Humunculus to activate it, sounds reasonable. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Yes it does! You have to wait until Turn 5 for it to be efficient then, though… But it’s still pretty solid!

Hey, that’s not a cubelock card!

It’s no Imp Gang Boss … but it’ll be alright in Zoolock; it would be better if Darkshire Councilman wasn’t rotating out (play the Councilman on 3 and Kobold Librarian + Duskbat on 4).

The problem, I think, is that you’re unlikely to see the benefit from the battlecry unless you’re playing it on turn 4 or 5 – at which point is a 2/4 + 2x 1/1 really that impactful? If you’re playing it on turn 3, then it’s just a bog standard 2/4 which is pretty weak.

Like come Rogue Combo cards though, it’ll be better on the coin.

I think it might be ok – good, because, around turn 4 or 5, you usualy are starting to run low on cards, so you want to tap, but the rest of your turn will not be as good. With this you can still play a solid card for 3 mana.
