The card itself is not bad. Warlock needs healing and lifesteal gives just that. The issue is that discard mechanic is flawed in general. It’s to random and unreliable.

    Wondering about something.
In order to trigger this card effect, could the Gnomeferatu effect be considering as a “discard” effect ?
I know it’s not written “discard” (“remove”), but I’d like to think the “discard” condition doesn’t exclusively apply with discarding from our hand ?
Like “I made my opponent discard one card” (the top deck one in Gnomeferatu’s case).

Becorse of the worsing “remove” and milling a card from you or your opponents deck is not a discard effect, I’m Rather sure it dose not work! You have to discard Cards from your hand.

The problem is they keep trying to make a control discard warlock. The thing is the thing control decks want to avoid the most is wasting value, If however they were trying to push a aggro discard warlock I think it could happen with the core of malchazzars imp, evil knight, doomguard, soulfire, silverware golem , and 2 mana 2/2 thing

I’m sorry, but that’s not the problem. If it gets discarded it’s a dead card, demon or not.

when are they gonna give up on discarding and go back to something that will actually give warlocks a play rate of 1%

handlock will as nice in the old days, Renolock was cool while it lasted, but after set rotations and literally deleting the molten giant its hanging on by a thread… defile is a nice start… you’ve spent SINCE TGT FOR GOD SAKES trying to make this work… looking forward to the death knight… mabye it will make it viable.. if not.. please stop this

I want them to make a 3 Mana Warlock spell that adds 2 cards to the Warlocks hand.

    Similar to:
    – Mages 3 Mana, draw 2 cards.
    – Priests 3 Mana, add 2 cards to your hand from your opponents deck.
    – Rogues 3 Mana, add 2 cards to your hand from your opponents class.

And the need of more Discard synergy made me think of:
    – A Warlock 3 mana spell, add 2 cards to your hand which you have discarded this game.

So your getting cards back into your hand after discarding them, they will be cards that where originally in your deck so should be cards you want to have (unlike the rng dependant Priest and Rogue ‘3 mana, 2 card’ variants).

Could also aim to discard only 1 card, then use this after to gain the 1 card you discarded back twice.

      July 26, 2017 at 1:40 pm

Warlock already has a (3) draw two cards. Sense Demons but it doesn’t normally see play because Warlock usually makes up for drawing using their hero power. If they made some really good demons that had synergy either when cards are discarded or from being discarded then I could see the card being played in discard warlock.

      July 25, 2017 at 9:11 pm

It’s not really the problem, according to the card text you could just put her on the board and she would still gain the buff from the discards. It would even have insane synergy with that legendary you can discard multiple times (forgot its name). The only problem, in my opinion, is that the discard cards we currently have are too random to be reliable. I hope we get some better stuff this expansion, but I always do and it never happens..

Well, for one I’m not surprised they gated a Warlock Lifesteal minion behind an archetype restriction, Lifesteal is really a stat Warlocks could take heavy advantage of.

That being said, while this card won’t make discolock that much better, it does boost the archetype, and the quest will be in for more than a year, so I could totally see the midrange discolock becoming a thing in some time…

And those who are claiming discolock cannot become a thing, I raise you Taunt Warrior and Purify Priest, both wich were long running jokes of an archetype. Look where they are at now.

    Its Ok
U have inn standard decks usualy doomguard hellfire so it can be 4/6 for 5 mana wich is not bad

Lifesteal is absolutely insane in warlock.

The discard archtype however – leaves much to be desired.

Powerful card trapped in a weak deck archtype – at least as we know it so far.

Bolvar in warlock, but only much much worse. Bolvar gets +1+1 for each, let’s say, token that died this game.. yes.. while in hand, but still.
In order to make this card viable you have to play discard like 5 good cards, then play this, and make sure it doesn’t die to a spell. Bul*sh*t

    • Jaych
      July 25, 2017 at 12:24 pm

Bolvar is worse than this. He only gained +1 Attack, not +1/+1. Besides, Bolvar didn’t have Lifesteal.

      • Cel
        July 26, 2017 at 1:18 am

Yea, but you cannot discard Bolvar and your minions die because of trades. You are not sacrifice anything. This shit can be discarded. You have to discard at least 4 cards to get some value and it dies immediately from hex, poly, execute, fireball, devolve, bla..bla..bla. It is so bad that I cannot see even one positive thing in this card. It should cost -1 because it does nothing.

    • Nope
      July 26, 2017 at 1:16 am

Wrong… Bolvar is much worse than Bloodqueen, cause he only gets +1 ATTACK, when a friendly minion dies, while this card is in your Hand
      Not +1 ATTACK and +1 Live….

  15. Jaych
    July 25, 2017 at 12:12 pm

Guys, I think you’re missing something here. Well, two things.

    1) Most Warlock decks already run discards in at least one form, namely Doomguard. Just there, Lana’thel is averaging out to be a 3-6 with Lifesteal that could still grow larger while on the board.

    2) How much healing does Warlock have these days? Basically none. So little, in fact, that some Warlock decks are including Voodoo Doctor. Beyond that, there’s, what, Mistress of Mixtures? Earthen Ring Farseer? Siphon Soul? That’s cute. This card could potentially be extremely valuable when it comes to the healing it gives. And if you land a Defender of Argus on this, it becomes truly terrifying.

There’s potential here. Everyone’s just jumping to two instances: Quest Warlock and Arena.

    • User27
      July 25, 2017 at 2:23 pm

Antique healbot and refreshment vendor are also very solid healing cards for warlock decks.

      • Jaych
        July 25, 2017 at 2:31 pm

…Those are in Wild. I’m talking Standard. If I was talking about Wild, then yeah, this card is unnecessary. But I’m not talking about Wild.

        • Raemahn
          July 25, 2017 at 3:12 pm

In Wild you can pay 1 to pump her +4/+4 and do 5+ damage and heal the same for 7. What’s not to like?

i feel over time, blizzard stuck on some things forever..They see people dont enjoy these discard lock decks and they continue on that way..So many years the same things..The same strategies the same shit ty cards the same decks the same 9 classes..Even on WoW..Every time i buy one expansion i see the same story..Xp on the same 5 location of the map and after the same battlegrounds the same arena the pve..So many years they push they same things forever..Regret us..We dont give a sh it about discard lock..We love value games..We feels good to have cards on hand..No discard rgn things..

  18. justaguy
    July 25, 2017 at 10:01 am

only one copy and pigeon holes you into playing a deck archtype whos only real reward is putting big things on the board and warlock is already fine about putting things on the board. you want to push discard warlock bliz? put out more cards that have an immediate impact on game state when discarded rather then this sort of good on turn 50 nonsense

  19. Subetai
    July 25, 2017 at 9:55 am

It’s definitely under-whelming as it is. Just before the release of Standard Discard Lock felt more viable in large part to Tiny Knight of Evil, which could snowball pretty quickly. It had the benefit of being buffed after it was already on the board. Would that help this card? You’d at least be able to play it early and not worry about Discarding it.

But then it just becomes too easy and desirable a kill target. Perhaps adding Untargettable by Spells and Hero powers would allow it to stick around on the board long enough to get buffed to decent stats.

Adding some form of Discard insurance might be an idea as well.

    • Anton
      July 25, 2017 at 10:30 am

I think that many people are underestimating the lifestealeffect, because the effect too strong to be left unchecked on board. If you discard 3 cards, this is an average statted card with lifesteal(a 4/6). So it is like Taunt plus healing, 4 health when it is killed by one minion and 8 for two, while still dealing for damage and absorbing six damage or more from minions attacking it. Warlock would definetly play a card that heals 10 to 14 or more health and dealing 4 to 8 or more damage to minions for 5 mana.

      Looks legit legendary to me.

    • Raemahn
      July 25, 2017 at 3:08 pm

This card will get bigger while on the field as its ability isn’t a Battlecry, it is ongoing. Thus, you can put her out and for every discard thereafter she grows. (Of course, how long she survives is another matter, but she could grow bigger over time.)

    July 25, 2017 at 9:20 am

I think that the discard mechanic just needs to be reworked in order for cards like this to bother to be playable. Not a big fan of this card’s design, either. I feel this is definitely one of the laziest of designs for discard synergy cards you could have for a new expansion.

Would this for example proc with shadowflame? In that case it is viable card!

    • CypherC
      July 25, 2017 at 9:17 am

Shadowflame doesn’t discard a minion, you sacrifice it.

      • CypherC
        July 25, 2017 at 9:25 am

Actually didn’t notice the lifesteal effect. Yes it will proc with shadowflame in my opinion.

        • dean
          July 25, 2017 at 10:42 am

If lifesteal is at all similar to poisonous, then it will not proc, because its not the minion dealing damage, its the spell that deals the damage.

          • Some Dude
            July 25, 2017 at 3:20 pm

Shadowflame doesnt have Lifesteal so I dont think it will work like that, look at the new priest spell that has the Text for example.

  22. Fanderay
    July 25, 2017 at 9:00 am

I’m one of the few player that actually appreciate the discard mechanic and I have to say that I like this card. Anyway, as Dean already said, I think this should not be a legendary.
But… I know it is too early, but…
If the Warlock Death Knight Hero Power interacts with the discard mechanic somehow like “summon a minion you have discarded” or “put a card you have discarded in your hand” I’d be really positive about the “Discardlock” archetype.
    Let’s cross our fingers XD

    • ActualWaterfowl
      July 25, 2017 at 10:27 am

Support from the warlock death knight would be really nice, but there’s a safe bet based on the Jaina leak that the warlock hero is 9 mana, which would mesh pretty poorly with the aggro-midrange strategy of discard zoo.

      🙁

  28. YoungKhalifa7
    July 25, 2017 at 8:09 am

This Card is maybe the badest Legendary ever. Before it has nearly decent stats for a class legendary u have to discard half of ur deck and u are always in danger to have it in your hand and discard it by himself… And what happens if all goes the perfect way? U play a 6/6 in turn 5 that does NOTHING…. If it was a epic or rare card it would maybe be decent (if discardlock wouldnt be shit anyways), but this way its just 400 dust. Dont know why they still pushing this shit mechanic… Blizz… Nerf the golem and other cards that synergize with discard and let US CHOOSE WHICH CARD WE DISCARD! As long as discard is random, discard will be shit. Its the badest mechanic ive ever seen in a game…

  29. Brann
    July 25, 2017 at 7:43 am

They are really trying to push a control Discard lock deck…. The thing is discard lock actually worked pretty well as a aggro deck!
With Maz Imp, SilverGolem soulfire and the 5-7 charge

In Ungoro tho they tried to turn it into more of a control deck with the lock quest and cards like the 3-8 taunt and the discard 2-2 Legendary and it ended up being a pretty bad deck

Adding a control healing card, you have to discard random cards to make work, it’s gonna make a control discard lock viable

To make discard lock into a viable control deck, it’s gonna need the ability to choose what it discards, since it’s already losing a ton of value from it’s deck by discarding so many cards…

Or maybe if they just released something really Op for discard lock, it might actually work

  30. Moltar
    July 25, 2017 at 7:31 am

In a discard lock is better the 5/5/7 haste demon.

    And you can have two.

  31. Xix
    July 25, 2017 at 7:24 am

Poor warlocks… You need to discard 5 cards just to make it a 6-6 and a 6-6 for 5 mana is not even that special concidering it’s a class legend. If you play this on curve it’s most likely a 4-6 wich is meh, my guess is that on average this girl will be able to do 1 atack, or 2 minions are being sent into it and so Healing you for 8. In that case it’s kind of like a antic healbot. But the healbot is certain, while this girl can just catch a fireball without doing any heal..
Atleast this girl will only become more powerfull if you draw her in the late game…. (if your still alive…)

Anyway this card wont help disco lock see play by itself. And should disco lock become a playable deck in the next expansion, it’s not even certain this card will make the cut.

    • CaptainSalty
      July 25, 2017 at 8:08 am

A really good question would be what happens with cruel dinomancer? Would she have 6 attack when summoned because you discarded herself and 4 other minions or would she she have 1 attack?
Sure the chance for getting her by dinomancer after discarding is quite low but she should technically have the same mechanic as C’thun, that even when resummoned she keeps the buff which would make this card a little bit more usefull.

      • Coni
        July 25, 2017 at 8:15 am

When the minion is summon again it does not keep the buff. So the card will be 1 attack.

C’thun is exception because he has a general buff counter independantly from C’thun card.

        • mistgun
          July 25, 2017 at 8:57 am

It will probably have the buff because its not a battlecry effect. meaning that her attack will get higher as you discard more cards after she is summoned (by any way)

    • Zer0w

  35. Wywern
    July 25, 2017 at 7:16 am

Healing for warlock. Might not make discard decks good by itself, but the possibility of being able to heal is welcome.

    • Brann
      July 25, 2017 at 7:27 am

This is not gonna make discard lock good (by it’s self)

This is a terrible card by it’s self
5 Mana 5-6 Dragon Op (discover a minion) :cost hold a drag

5 Mana 1-6 Queen (lifesteal) :cost discard 4 cards to have proper stats for 5 Mana

I really hope Blizz doesn’t fk up the warlock class again this Epac by trying to hard push Discard lock to be viable

They’re trying to turn an aggro discard deck (that sorta worked) into a control discard deck , but in control you don’t wanna be discarding random cards from your hand, including this ….

Discard lock doesn’t just need healing to make it viable, it needs the ability to choose what you discard, this card isn’t gonna work unless they get something like that or something to push Discard lock way over the edge

  36. CrazDav
    July 25, 2017 at 7:10 am

Way to slow to have any impact, if you play it on 5 most of the time it will have between 1 – 3 attack wich isnt great even with lifesteal. Otherwise you discard it by accident or it will be at the bottom at your deck. Why does blizzard hate Warlock? Wasnt the Quest crap enough? God damnit.

  37. Skyler
    July 25, 2017 at 7:09 am

Should be an epic card, not a legendary tbh.
